Obituary for Delores Trevenna

Delores “Curly” Trevenna passed peacefully away, surrounded by her children, on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023. She was 86 years old. A long-time resident of Timmins, she was born in nearby Cobalt, Ontario, to Richard Fauteux and Léonie Côté, the youngest in a family that included siblings Rita, Patsy, Lillian, Rudy and Buddy. Curly was known for her easy athleticism; she was a ballerina and adept at tennis, cross-country skiing, bowling, Tai Chi and her flare as a dancer was on full display whenever she cut up the rug at the Moneta Rec or the Legion with her favorite dance partner, Ken Trevenna, her husband of sixty-five years. In addition to being a homemaker and mother, Curly worked at Bucovetsky’s Department Store for many years, with stints in the office, warehouse and shoe department, and was an active member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary. An avid sports fan, she enjoyed watching Blue Jays games and betting on hockey games with her husband, when she wasn’t doing her daily crossword puzzle or working on the many complex jigsaw puzzles that she and Ken completed over the years. In her later years, she became Lawrence Welk’s biggest fan, listening to re-broadcasts of his shows while she played Word Search on her iPad or completely trounced her kids at Crazy Eights or Go Fish. Curly Trevenna may well have been the sweetest woman who ever lived – kind, loving, accepting and supportive, someone who always put others’ needs before her own, especially the needs of her family. She was a light, bright spirit that will shine in our hearts forever. She is survived by her adoring children: Ken Trevenna (Melissa), Terryl Trevenna (Terry), Tim Trevenna (Jackie), and Laura Belisle (Tom); her grandchildren: Tyler, Emma, Ken, Kevin, Jessie, Jordan, Raina, Sophia, Sabrina, Will, Alice, Lindsey and Justin; her great-grandchildren: Marvel, Brooklyn, Enzo, Iris, Marek, Eliza, Evelyn, Charlotte, Judith, Mirabel, Xander, Victoria, Audrey, Paige, Nora; and her brother Buddy. Love you more.

In lieu of flowers or donations, please treasure every moment spent with your loved ones.

A service and celebration of her life for family and friends will be announced at a later date.
