Obituary for Eugène Charlebois

The family announces with great sorrow his death on Thursday July 7, 2022 at the Timmins and District Hospital at the age of 92.

Beloved husband of 69 years to May Charlebois (née Coderre). Loving father of Joanne (Yvon) Grenier and Daniel Charlebois. Dear grandfather of Patrick Hudkins, Mathieu Charlebois, France Grenier, and Marc-André (Kelly) Grenier; great-grandfather of Khloé, Jonah and Brielle.

Dear brother of Rita Michel (late Marcel), Hector (NoElla) Charlebois and Émilien (Ghislaine) Charlebois. He was also loved and will be missed by many nieces and nephews, as well as by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law of the Coderre family.

Predeceased by his parents Elie and Ida Charlebois, and his siblings Fernand Charlebois, Laurette Genest, Aline Labrèche, Jeannine Charlebois and André Charlebois.

Eugène enjoyed gardening, playing cards, camping, fishing pickerel on Abitibi Lake, and moose hunting at his brother Émilien’s cottage at Wild Goose. He also loved traveling across Canada with his motor home, and spending time in Florida every year. He was proud to be a Chevaliers de Colomb - Quatrième degré.

The family would like to thank the very caring doctors and nurses of the Surgical Floor who took care of Eugène, his family physician Dr. Richard Lebel, as well as Dr Mahmoudi and Dre Levac.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday July 13, 2022 at 10 a.m. at St-Joseph Parish. Interment at Immaculée Conception Cemetery will follow. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at LESSARD-STEPHENS FUNERAL HOME. Remembrance donations to Paroisse St-Joseph or to a charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
