Obituary for Flavia Feltracco (Moro)

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Flavia Maria Feltracco (née Moro) of Timmins, Ontario passed away peacefully on Saturday, 16 April 2022 after a long illness.

Flavia was predeceased by her beloved son Adelchi Feltracco in 1991. She is survived by her three daughters: Anita Damini, husband Denis of Timmins; Deen Mueller, husband Rainer of Waterloo; and Annamaria Feltracco, husband Paul Winward of Wilsonville. She is also fondly remembered by the father of her children Augusto Feltracco of Barrie.

Flavia is the much loved nonna of Lauren Damini of Timmins, Tallia Damini and husband Brad Vrolyk of Timmins, Michael Damini and fiancée Rachael Bennett of Sudbury, Seth Winward of Kitchener, Dustin Winward (predeceased 1999) and Elias Winward of Wilsonville.

Flavia was the daughter of Antonio and Olinda Moro of Bradford (both predeceased) and the sister of Luigi Moro, wife Ida (both predeceased); Bertila Kovac, husband Frank (both predeceased); Anna Poloni, husband Giuseppe of Concord, Ontario; Ofelia Papaiz of North Bay and husband Celeste (predeceased); and Fervido Moro and wife Santina of Bradford, Ontario. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Flavia was born in Castelfranco Veneto, Italy on 26 December 1936. After a childhood marked by poverty and the trauma of war, she emigrated to Canada with her family in 1956, settling in Bradford, Ontario where her family farmed the Holland Marsh. She met Augusto Feltracco, also a recent immigrant from northern Italy. They married in 1958 and settled in Toronto for a short time where the first of their children was born. They moved to Timmins, Ontario in 1960 where Augusto, a bricklayer established his business. Flavia was a homemaker and supported the family business while raising four children. She was an excellent seamstress and cook and she lovingly babysat many children. Her spirit of resilience, drive and tenacity – especially in the face of illness is an inspiration to her family.

The family wishes to recognize the great care and love of several caregivers: Valerie, Josèe, Brenda, Sukhpreet, Adlina, Nova, Sage and others. We will always remember.

The funeral arrangements are entrusted to Lessard-Stephens Funeral Home at 21 Elm Street South, Timmins. The visitation will be held on Tuesday 19 April from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The funeral will be held with Fr. John Lemire officiating at Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday, 20 April 2022 at 10:30am. The family requests that all relatives and guests attending will adhere to masking due to the Covid pandemic. If you wish, donations to the Timmins & District Hospital Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society are much appreciated by the family.
