C’est avec tristesse que la famille de Gilberte Gervaise Gervais annonce son décès le lundi 20 mars 2023 au Golden Manor entourée d’amour à l’âge de 102 ans.
Prédécédée par son cher mari Emery Elie Gervais (14 nov 1981), son fils Ronald Gervais (2022), et son petit-fils Patrick Gervais (1982). Également prédécédée par ses frères et sœurs Philippe, Marcel, Elie, Jeanette, Emerencienne, et Collette.
Maman adorée de Rena Gunn (feu Jacques Gunn 2023), Judith Carbonneau (George), Raymond Gervais (Marge), Claude Gervais (Régine), et chère belle-mère de Frida Gervais.
Elle fut la grand-mère chérie de Michel Gunn (Marie), Sylvie Villeneuve (Jean), Richard Gunn, Steven Gunn (Mihaela), Pierre Carbonneau (Johanne), Daniel Carbonneau (Berdine), Marc Gervais (Lise), Kelly Trahan (Rob), Stéphanie Parent (Guy), Mélanie Lavigne (Eric), Randy Gervais (Vicki), Shelly Laforest (Rick), Wayne Gervais (Kim), Jason Gervais (Jessica), David Gervais (Marie-France).
Elle laisse dans le deuil 37 arrière-petits-enfants, 35 arrière-arrière-petits-enfants (ainsi que quatre autres à venir sous peu).
Étant la matriarche de la famille Gervais, elle laisse un héritage d’amour et de gentillesse qui aura un impact continu auprès de nous. Elle adorait voyager, faire à manger et était hôte sans pareil. La famille se réunissait sans faute les dimanches chez elle à la maison afin de partager des repas, des rires et de bons souvenirs. Elle fut une femme exemplaire et nous la chérirons toujours.
Elle était une couturière douée et avec ses doigts de fée, elle a créé deux précieuses robes de baptême qui font maintenant partie de notre héritage. Elle occupera toujours une place importante dans nos cœurs et nous ne l’oublierons jamais.
Ses derniers jours furent adoucis par sa foi catholique profonde.
La messe des funérailles aura lieu le jeudi 23 mars 2023 à 11h à la paroisse St-Joseph. L’inhumation suivra au Cimetière mémorial de Timmins. Un goûter sera ensuite servi à la salle St-Joseph. La famille recevra les amis le mercredi 22 mars 2023 de 14h à 16h et de 19h à 21h à la Maison funéraire LESSARD-STEPHENS. Predeceased by her beloved husband Emery Elie Gervais (Nov 14, 1981), her son Ronald Gervais (2022), and her infant grandson Patrick Gervais (1982). Also predeceased by her brothers and sisters Philippe, Marcel, Elie, Jeanette, Emerencienne, and Collette.
Loving mother of Rena Gunn (late Jacques Gunn 2023), Judith Carbonneau (George), Raymond Gervais (Marge), Claude Gervais (Regine), and special mother-in-law to Frida Gervais.
Dearest grandmother to Michel Gunn (Marie), Sylvie Villeneuve (Jean), Richard Gunn, Steven Gunn (Mihaela), Pierre Carbonneau (Johanne), Daniel Carbonneau (Berdine), Marc Gervais (Lise), Kelly Trahan (Rob), Stéphanie Parent (Guy), Mélanie Lavigne (Eric), Randy Gervais (Vicki), Shelly Laforest (Rick), Wayne Gervais (Kim), Jason Gervais (Jessica), and David Gervais (Marie-France).
Beloved great-grandmother to 37, cherished great-great-grandmother to 35 (plus four soon to come).
As our matriarch, she leaves us with a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to impact us for the rest of our lives. She loved to travel, cook, and entertain. Every Sunday was family day at grandma’s; she filled our bellies, she filled hearts with everything good, loving, and wonderful. She was an exemplary woman in every sense of the word. Being a gifted seamstress, with her nibble fingers, she created 2 precious christening gowns that have become a family heirloom. She holds a special place in all of our hearts.
Her deep faith in God carried her through her final days and all throughout her life.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday March 23, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St-Joseph parish. Interment at Timmins Memorial Cemetery will follow. A luncheon will be held afterwards at St-Joseph parish hall. The family will receive friends on Wednesday March 22, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at LESSARD-STEPHENS Funeral Home. Remembrance donations to the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation or the Golden Manor would be greatly appreciated.
