Obituary for Gordon VanLuven

Gordon passed away in his 74th year at the Timmins and District Hospital surrounded by family. Beloved husband of 50 years to Linda VanLuven (Nee Stewart). Loving father to Janice (Derek) Bacvar and cherished grandfather to Alyssa Bacvar. Dear brother to Harold (Sharon), Marie, Les (Connie), Kathy (Tex), Lloyd and brother-in-law to Lois, Joy and Linda. He will be deeply missed by his faithful companion Sheba, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Harold and Della VanLuven and his brothers-in-law Jack Graham, Mike Marks and Ken Stewart.

Gordon was in the army at the young age of 17 years old. After a tragic injury, he became a proud butcher for 20 years. Passionate to help others, he then became a successful financial advisor for Primerica Financial Services.

He was an amazing father, husband and grandfather. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He lived for his moose hunts. We will forever remember his witty sense of humor and his passion for the outdoors.

Respecting his wishes, cremation will take place. The family will receive friends form 12:00 p.m. (noon) to 1 p.m. at LESSARD-STEPHENS Funeral Home prior to the service.
