Obituary for Jean (John) Leblanc
La famille annonce avec tristesse son décès à l'âge de 87 ans, le jeudi 23 février 2023 à l'hôpital Montfort d’Ottawa. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse Cécile (née Chartier). Père bien-aimé de Michel de Timmins, Carole (Denis Cloutier) d’Ottawa et Sylvie d’Ottawa. Cher Pépére (Pep) de Joseph, Matthieu, Miguel (Cass), Nadia (Warren), Chloé (Riley), Gabrielle, Valérie, et arrière-grand-père d’Austin, Jared, Cole, Addison, Liam, Emery. Cher frère de Gilberte St-Jean (feu Hector) et de feu Aurèle Leblanc (Cécile) d’Oshawa. Prédécédé par ses parents Hector et Emelda (née Tremblay) et ses beaux-parents Aldoria et Dolores Chartier. Il laisse dans le deuil une nièce bien spéciale et ‘golf buddy’, Lise St-Jean et plusieurs autres nièces et neveux. Il tenait aussi à cœur les personnes suivantes: Sue Devins Patrie, Michel Monette et Rick Racine ainsi que plusieurs amis de longue date. Jean était natif de Timmins. Pendant 38 ans, il a travaillé à Northern Telephone jusqu’à sa retraite en 1994. Il a profité pleinement de plusieurs belles années à la retraite à voyager avec son épouse et leurs amis, à jouer au golf avec ses ‘golf buddies’, à jouer aux quilles et aux cartes avec ses amis et à passer du temps de qualité au chalet avec la famille.
La messe des funérailles aura lieu le lundi 19 juin 2023 à 10h à l’église Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix. Un goûter à la Salle de réception LESSARD-STEPHENS suivra. La famille recevra les condoléances le dimanche 18 juin de 19h à 21h à la Maison funéraire LESSARD-STEPHENS. The family announces with sorrow the passing of John, loving husband, father and grandfather, at Montfort Hospital in Ottawa on Thursday, February 23,2023. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Cécile Leblanc (Chartier), his children Michel of Timmins, Carole (Denis Cloutier) of Ottawa and Sylvie of Ottawa, his loving grandchildren Joseph Michaud, Miguel (Cass), Mathieu, Nadia (Warren), Gabrielle, Chloé (Riley) and Valérie. He also leaves behind his precious great grandchildren: Austin, Jared, Cole, Addison, Liam and Emery. Their “Pep” will forever hold a special place in their hearts. Also left to mourn are his sister Gilberte St-Jean (late Hector), his sister-in-law Cecile LeBlanc of Oshawa and several nieces and nephews. He was a special ‘mon oncle’ to his niece and golf buddy, Lise St-Jean. John leaves behind many wonderful friends with whom he shared great memories. He was also very fond of Sue Devins Patrie, Michel Monette and Rick Racine. He was predeceased by his parents Hector and Emelda, his brother Aurèle and his father and mother-in-law Aldoria and Dolores Chartier. A lifetime resident of Timmins until a few years ago, John worked at Northern Telephone for 38 years until his retirement in 1994. He was fortunate to have had many wonderful years to enjoy travelling with Cecile and dear friends, golfing with buddies, bowling, playing cards with friends and spending quality time with the family at the cottage at Ivanhoe Lake.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday June 19, 2023 at Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix church, with a reception to follow at LESSARD-STEPHENS Reception Centre. The family will receive friends on Sunday June 18th from 7- 9 p.m. at LESSARD-STEPHENS Funeral Home. Remembrance donations to Parkinson Canada or the Montfort Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
