It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Jean-Pierre de Blois on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at the Timmins and District Hospital after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer. Cherished husband to Pauline de Blois (née Morin) for 50 loving years. Adoring father of Ghislain (Shannan), Yvan (Paula), and Vincent (Stacie). Cherished grandfather of Emma, Armand, Gabriella, Daniel, Braydyn, James, Elijah, Russell, Jacob, and Harper. Dearest Brother of Audrey (Gilles Loiselle), Jean-Charles (Jeannette), Pierrette (Normand Cheff), and Stephen (Denise). Beloved brother-in-law to Jean-Paul Morin, Raymond Morin, Rollande Harrison (Bob), Thérèse Mercier, and Laila Shortt. He will be missed and is survived by his Aunt Lucille Levasseur as well as by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Eugène-Lomer and Blanche Rita (née Mayer) and recently by his devoted brother Philippe, beloved brother-in-law Réjean Mercier, as well as his enduring friend Gordon VanLuven.
Jean-Pierre was the proud and devoted owner of JP’s Skate Shop located on Norman St. in Timmins up until his retirement. He served as Trustee for the Timmins Board of Education for 9 years and was a long-standing member and volunteer with the Knights of Columbus. His happy place was at the cottage where he enjoyed fishing, hunting, hosting family and friends, enjoying magnificent sunsets, and taking in the tonic of wilderness.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of the Timmins and District Hospital and of Bayshore Home Health for their compassionate care during his prolonged illness.
In respecting his wishes, cremation is to take place. The family will receive friends on Tuesday September 27, 2022, from 9AM to 11:15AM at LESSARD-STEPHENS Funeral Home in Timmins. A funeral service will then take place at 11:30AM in the chapel, which will be livestreamed on the funeral home Facebook page. To access the livestream, CLICK HERE 5 minutes prior to the service . A reception will then follow in the Lessard-Stephens Reception Centre. Remembrance donations to the TDH Foundation or the Lords Kitchen would be greatly appreciated. C’est avec une grande tristesse que la famille annonce le décès paisible de Jean-Pierre de Blois le jeudi 22 septembre 2022, à l`Hôpital de Timmins et du District après une longue lutte contre le cancer. Époux chéri de Pauline de Blois (née Morin) pendant 50 ans. Père adoré de Ghislain (Shannan), Yvan (Paula) et Vincent (Stacie). Grand-père aimé d’Emma, Armand, Gabriella, Daniel, Braydyn, James, Elijah, Russell, Jacob et Harper. Très cher frère d’Audrey (Gilles Loiselle), Jean-Charles (Jeannette), Pierrette (Normand Cheff) et Stephen (Denise). Beau-frère bien-aimé de Jean-Paul Morin, Raymond Morin, Rollande Harrison (Bob), Thérèse Mercier et Laila Shortt. Il nous manquera et laisse dans le deuil sa tante Lucille Levasseur ainsi que de nombreux neveux, nièces, cousins et amis. Il fut prédécédé par ses parents Eugène-Lomer et Blanche Rita (née Mayer) et récemment par son frère dévoué Philippe, son beau-frère bien-aimé Réjean Mercier, ainsi que son ami Gordon VanLuven.
Jean-Pierre était le fier et dévoué propriétaire du magasin JP’s Skate Shop situé sur la rue Norman à Timmins jusqu’à sa retraite. Il a été conseiller scolaire du Timmins Board of Education pendant 9 ans et a été membre et bénévole des Chevaliers de Colomb. Sa place favorite était au chalet où il aimait pêcher, chasser, accueillir sa famille et ses amis, admirer les couchers de soleil et saisir le tonique de la nature.
La famille tient à remercier le personnel dévoué de l`Hôpital de Timmins et du District, et de Bayshore Home Health pour leurs soins compatissants pendant sa maladie prolongée.
Dans le respect de ses souhaits, la crémation aura lieu. La famille recevra les condoléances le mardi 27 septembre 2022 de 9h à 11h15 à la Maison funéraire LESSARD-STEPHENS à Timmins. Les funérailles auront ensuite lieu à 11h30 en la chapelle et sera diffusé en direct sur la page Facebook de la maison funéraire.
