The family announces with great sorrow the passing of Jim Romain Jr. at the Timmins and District Hospital surrounded by his family on April 26th 2023 at the age of 84.
Predeceased by his first wife Lucy, his mother Lucy and father James Sr. He is survived by his brother Ernie Romain (late Patricia) and sister Sandra Valliant (late Allan). He leaves behind his beloved wife of 13 years Claire DeLuca. Loving father of Greg (Maureen Bradshaw), Cheryl Chartrand (Dan) and Jeffrey (Lisa). Also survived by his great-grandchildren Leela, Landon, Nash, Kinsley, Oakland and Ophelia.
Jim was born and raised in Timmins. He was a very compassionate and social man who was well-known in the community. Jim always had a smile and livened up any room he walked into. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him knew he was a diehard Toronto Maple Leaf’s fan who witnessed their last Stanley Cup win live in 1967. He began his working career at Top Notch followed by Sunoco; he was fortunate to work with his father at both locations. He spent 20 years working at Kidd Creek and after retirement joined Timmins Garage for 18 years.
Funeral service will be held on Friday May 12, 2023 at 11am at Sacred Heart Church. Interment at the Timmins Memorial Cemetery will follow. The family will receive friends on Thursday May 11, 2023 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at LESSARD-STEPHENS Funeral Home. Remembrance donations to the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. Online condolences and donations can be made at www.lessardstephens.com.
