Obituary for Joseph Okros

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Okros Sr., peacefully
at the Timmins District Hospital on Friday, April 21, 2023 at the age of 74 year.
His career in mining spanned over 43 years, as a control operator and within many departments in the mining sector. Joe loved the outdoors, including hunting, fishing and camping and spending time with his family and friends. Survived by his beloved spouse Faye (Lelievre), his sons Joseph Jr (Jessica) and Michael, his grandchildren Ava (whom he called Princess), Ayden, Payton, Landon and Bailey, his great- grandchildren Henrik and Beckam; his sisters Julie Bouley (Jack) and Katalin Boisvert (Marc); his brother Frank Zavodnik (Lucie); his nieces and nephews, James, Jessica, Emilie, Eric, Alec and Sara. He will be sadly missed by his mother-in-law, Helen Lelievre (Gosse), all the Lelievre family;
the Zavodnik family, Annie, Mylene, Philippe, Tony (Renne), Sabrina and David. Also, he had a special place in his heart for Neil (Lisa) whom he called his adopted son. Also by his cousins Liz Podmaniczky, Paul and Michael. Predeceased by his beloved parents Julianna (Kabai), his father Miklos Okros, brother Niclaus Okros, Aunt Elizabeth Kabai Chartier (Lorenzo), Cousin Karl Podmaniczky and father-in-law Henry Lelievre.
Joe’s kindness and laughter will be missed greatly by all who knew him, and he’ll be sadly missed not only by his family but by his many friends and neighbours. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrance donation to the Timmins District Hospital Foundation, Timmins Food Bank, Salvation Army or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
