Obituary for Marie-Ange Hamelin (Del Guidice)

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Marie Hamelin on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at the age of 90 years young at the Timmins and District Hospital.

Marie will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 37 years, Paul Hamelin, her son Richard (Monique) Chartrand, her daughters Linda (Steve) Kempert, Lola (Raynald Proulx) Chartrand, and her stepson Michel (Georges Lavoie) Hamelin.

Loving Mémère to her grandchildren Bradley Bergeron, Nicole, Josée and Alain Chartrand, Gavin and Dana Laviolette, Curtis and Ryan Hamelin, Dominic Guarda and Gabrielle Proulx.

She will also be dearly missed by her sisters Lucienne Farrell, Adèle (Bryan) Fletcher, Juliette Mascioli, Rachelle Del Guidice, her dear brother Sylvio (Ginette) Del Guidice, and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law of the Hamelin family.

She is also survived by many special and dear nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Predeceased by her parents John (Giuseppe) and Emeriza Del Guidice, her siblings Hector Del Guidice, Rita (Peter) Fleury, Gabrielle (Rhéal) Dumas, Pauline Demers, and her brothers-in-law, as well as her stepdaughter Lise (Peter) Guarda, and her former husband Réjean Chartrand.

She loved knitting, cooking, baking, camping, fishing and watching sports with her husband Paul. If there were no baseball or hockey games, her famous quote was “there’s nothing good on TV”. Marie worked at St Mary’s Hospital where she learned to fold clothes from the sisters, then Herman’s Dry Cleaning, and as a secretary for Conrad Lavigne at CFCL for 7 years.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to Dr. Quirion, Drs. Armstrong and the staff of the TDH.

As per Marie’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held. Arrangements have been entrusted to LESSARD-STEPHENS Funeral Home.

Remembrance donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be greatly appreciated.
