Obituary for Richard Andrew Hohman

On Tuesday, December 20, 2022, Richard Andrew Hohman passed away unexpectedly at the age of 60.
Richard was born on October 10, 1962 in Timmins, Ontario, and graduated from TH&VS. He earned his computer science degree at the University of Waterloo and excelled in mainframe support, for the last 10+ years with Fidelity Investments in Raleigh, North Carolina where he reached the level of Senior Systems Programmer.

Richard had a great passion for sports, particularly hockey. An unwavering fan of the Bruins since the days of Bobby Orr, he was a fountain of all hockey knowledge and an avid collector of related memorabilia. Playing amateur hockey, he was a proud member of the “grind line” known for augmenting his on-ice skills with enthusiastic verbal abuse of opposing players.

His friends remember a special person with a talent for wit, humour, and incisive social commentary. He enjoyed a good laugh and memorably expounded humorous tales in the flavour of George Carlin, Mel Blanc and Dr. Seuss to name but a few. His talent for silly churlish rhymes, simile and sardonic metaphor, often self-deprecating, was an entertaining shared guilty pleasure. He will be greatly missed.

Family was cherished by Richard. He is survived by his father Frank - to whom he resolutely tended for the last few years - and brothers William, Peter (Honora), Carl (Danielle) and Walter (Heather). A loving, generous uncle to Kyle (Carmen), Leah (Taylor), Brody (Jacquie), Patrick (Cassidy) and Conrad. Great Uncle to Evander, Adelaide, Eamon, Quinn, Raven and Maria.

Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Gwen.
