Obituary for Rita Rivard (Nee Plouffe) (Plouffe)
The family announces with sorrow her death on Thursday January 27, 2022 at the Timmins and District Hospital at the age of 91.
Dear wife of Jean Guy Rivard. Loving mother of Darcelle Rivard and Philippe Rivard (Alison Yee). Dear grandmother of Matthew Yee. She is also survived and was adored by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents Laurencia and William Plouffe, as well as her siblings and their spouses, Jeannette Francoeur (Willard), Gertrude Demers (Roland), Gerald Plouffe (Florence) and Lucille Theriault (Andy).
Rita began her entrepreneurial career under the guidance of her mom at Madame Plouffe Boutique clothing and together with her mother in 1973, they pioneered a new venture into the health food sector -Plouffe Health Food Centre until she retired at the age of 87. Rita’s career was important to her although her three biggest passions in life were being with family, travelling and visiting casinos with the love of her life Guy. Rita was the life of all family gatherings; we could always count on her to cheer everyone up with her rendition of “Happy Days are Here Again”.
The family would like to thank Dr Auger, the nurses and all other of medical team members from TDH Hospice and Medical Unit for their compassionate care.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to LESSARD-STEPHENS FUNERAL HOME. Remembrance donations to the Timmins and District Hospital c/o the Hospice Unit would greatly be appreciated.
